British Gymnastics is seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join their team.

The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week and receive a salary of £26,699.00 per annum (dependent upon experience).

Job Description

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Monthly Variance Analysis: Prepare variance analysis at a departmental level to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Cost Centre Analysis: Analyse cost centre data monthly to identify areas for improvement.
  • Trend Analysis: Prepare trend analysis to discuss performance with budget holders.
  • Training and Support: Train new starters and budget holders on financial processes, systems, coding structure, pre-payments, etc.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Provide ad hoc analytical support to the Head of Procurement as needed.
  • Financial Transactions: Oversee and review the accuracy and processing of all financial transactions, including debtor and creditor transactions, VAT rates, staff and volunteer expenses, and project costs.
  • Grant Submissions: Prepare quarterly grant submissions, collating and reviewing all data with the relevant budget holder.
  • VAT Returns: Prepare quarterly VAT returns, reviewing all VAT-related data monthly and investigating and resolving any errors.
  • Bank Accounts: Manage bank accounts and control accounts, ensuring all mandates are up to date and maintained.
  • Fixed Assets: Check and analyse the fixed asset register and process fixed asset journals.
  • Project Ledger: Reconcile the project ledger to the general ledger.
  • Cover for Purchase Ledger: Provide cover for purchase ledger/sales ledger during holidays or periods of absence.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Solid knowledge of accounts preparation and processes.
  • Strong understanding of MS Excel and formulas (e.g., IF statements, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables) and cloud-based accounting software.
  • Confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive data.
  • A formal AAT qualification or equivalent accountancy qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business aims, activities, priorities, budget cycles, requirements, commercial objectives, and sales patterns.
