About the Role

The HALO Trust is seeking a highly skilled Global Finance Officer to join our Finance team at our HQ in Thornhill, Dumfries. As a key member of the team, you will support the Global Grants Manager in ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance for a portfolio of global grants and donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain financial donor reports and fund requests, ensuring timely submission and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Global Grants Manager to develop donor budgets using HALO's financial planning system (Adaptive Insights).
  • Design and implement efficient systems, tools, and processes to ensure HALO's budgeting and forecasting process operates effectively.
  • Monitor and review grants/contracts, working closely with colleagues to forecast and report on project costs to completion.
  • Ensure compliance against overseas statutory regulations, including company registration, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Conduct desk and field-based audits to monitor compliance against donor regulations and HALO financial and logistics standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare transactional reports/documentation for grant/contract audits, liaising with external auditors/country teams as necessary.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years' experience in a finance role, with a strong background in financial compliance and grant management.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to manipulate and analyze data, including pivot tables, VLookup, and SUMIF.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to HALO programmes, with a maximum of 3 short visits per year.
