We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to join our client, a leading global insurance business in Colchester. As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for driving the performance of your team to exceed key measures such as retention, loss ratio performance, premium written, and workflow management.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of people management experience within insurance, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You will be a strong influencer, negotiator, and leader, with a customer-obsessed mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the evolution of segmentation within the Trading Underwriting Team and influence underwriters to embrace change.
  • Strategic input into the running of the Trading Underwriting Team and conduct regular monthly team meetings for positive engagement.
  • Work closely with the Head of Broker and sustain relationships with Service Delivery Team Leaders.
  • Pro-actively manage the servicing and retention of larger complex renewals.
  • Develop and maintain close, effective relationships with key stakeholders, including Operations, Sales DU's, Branch Managers, and Sales Director.
  • Undertake resource planning and look for ways to improve the effectiveness of the Trading Underwriting Team.
  • Actively assist with talent acquisition for the recruitment of experienced underwriters.
  • Deliver a structured and tailored induction process for new joiners to the team.
  • Lead and coach your team to ensure their broker and customer interactions are continually developed.
  • Support and develop team members to ensure strong performers are stretched and appropriate action is taken against underperformance.
Requirements
  • Previous people management experience within insurance is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Team player.
  • Customer obsessed.
