Preterm Birth Midwife Specialist

Job Summary:
The Preterm Birth Midwife Specialist will be responsible for providing high-quality care to women at risk of preterm birth, leading the preterm birth service, and ensuring that care is evidence-based and delivered to the appropriate cohort of patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Preterm Birth Service: Oversee the preterm birth service, ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with Trust guidelines and national standards.
- Provide Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and support to the preterm birth and bereavement service, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice.
- Develop and Implement Care Pathways: Develop and implement care pathways for women at risk of preterm birth, ensuring that care is evidence-based and delivered to the appropriate cohort of patients.
- Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that care is coordinated and delivered effectively.
- Monitor and Evaluate Care: Monitor and evaluate care provided to women at risk of preterm birth, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Develop and Maintain Clinical Skills: Develop and maintain clinical skills, staying up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices.
- Lead on Quality Improvement Projects: Lead on quality improvement projects related to preterm birth, such as the BAPM extreme prematurity and perinatal optimisation toolkit.
- Work with External Agencies: Work with external agencies to ensure that care is coordinated and delivered effectively.
- Registered Midwife: Must be a registered midwife with a diploma or degree in midwifery.
- Experience in Leadership or Management: Must have experience in leadership or management responsibilities, including decision-making and problem-solving.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information to a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to Work in a Team Environment: Must be able to work in a team environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that care is coordinated and delivered effectively.
- Ability to Work Independently: Must be able to work independently, taking responsibility for a clinical caseload and making decisions as necessary.
