About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Assistant to join our team at a Specialist Further Education College in Carlisle, Cumbria. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 16+ with learning or communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in classroom settings and support their access to community-based activities.
  • Support students in developing life skills and provide assistance with personal care when needed.
  • Help create a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.
  • Work alongside students to promote their independence and comfort, ensuring their needs are met through tailored care plans.
  • Facilitate active participation in both college and community activities.
  • Communicate effectively to understand and meet the needs of the students, staff, and organisation.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Worker is desirable.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience within an educational setting is advantageous.
  • A passion for working with young people and a commitment to making a difference in their lives.
