Widener University is seeking a skilled professional to support the School of Engineering's laboratory operations. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Engineering, this role will be part of a team responsible for maintaining various instructional and research engineering laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, CNC machines, and welding equipment.
  • Assist faculty and students with designing, fabricating, and modifying mechanical components and prototypes.
  • Provide technical support and training to students and staff on the use of machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Ensure safety compliance by enforcing machine shop safety protocols and conducting regular equipment inspections.
  • Manage inventory of materials, tools, and supplies, and coordinate with vendors for purchases and repairs.
  • Assemble, set up, and calibrate instruments and supplies in assigned engineering labs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment in assigned labs.
  • Support engineering outreach and recruitment activities.

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field and two years of relevant experience in engineering or a similar field.
  • Experience with engineering testing equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the engineering field.
  • Previous experience in engineering laboratories.
  • Experience with machine shop operations.
