Key Responsibilities

Active Care Group is looking for a Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist with experience in inpatient settings to become a vital member of the multidisciplinary team on Wedgewood Ward, which accommodates six patients in our Tier 4 CAMHS Eating Disorders service. The medical team on-site will consist of two employed consultants and three specialty doctors, collaborating with established MDT members. This role is part-time, requiring three days of work each week. Essential qualifications include Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status, and CCT accreditation in CAMHS Psychiatry or the imminent completion of CCT, along with experience in CAMHS eating disorders psychiatry.

Clinical Duties

Your role will involve:

  • Leading the multidisciplinary team in conducting screening assessments for patient admissions.
  • Overseeing the care and treatment of patients, including weekly ward round reviews, risk assessments, and ongoing treatment plans.
  • Participating in family meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning as necessary.
  • Ensuring clinical documentation is thorough and current.
  • Implementing evidence-based care in line with national standards and guidelines.
  • Providing supervision to specialty doctors.
  • Preparing for and engaging in external reviews (CQC and Quality Network reviews).
  • Participating in the on-call rota (second on-call – 1 in 3).
Management Responsibilities
  • Attending the hospital-wide Clinical Governance Group meetings (monthly).
  • Contributing to the group-wide Mental Health Clinical Governance Group (quarterly).
  • Engaging in service development through research, innovation, and local audits.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly NHS partners.
  • Supervising and supporting the site-based specialty doctor.
  • Participating in National Networks.
  • Continuing personal development through CPD and annual appraisals, adhering to the GMC's "Good Medical Practice" guidelines.
  • Regularly reviewing prescribing practices in collaboration with the site-based pharmacist.
Qualifications and Skills

Essential qualifications include:

  • CAMHS CCT or CESR (Required) or evidence of a pathway for imminent completion.
  • Approved Clinician and Section 12 Approved (Required).
  • Experience working within an inpatient CAMHS Eating Disorders environment.
  • Demonstrated evidence-based practice.
  • Confidence in engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to patient-centered, outcomes-based care.
  • Availability for 22.5 hours per week (three days).
  • Full-time junior doctor support.
  • Involvement in site-based clinical governance and Medical Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills through participation in existing group-wide committee meetings.
  • Engagement in second-tier Consultant on-call rota.
