About the Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Business Administration

The School of Business Administration at Widener University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Event Management. As a member of our faculty team, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, and contributing to service activities within the department, college, and community.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Project Management, or a closely related field. A strong background in teaching, research, and service is essential, with experience in online and hybrid teaching modalities preferred.

We are looking for a talented individual who can contribute to the development of our event management program, including course curriculum design, innovative teaching methods, and collaborative research initiatives. The selected candidate will join a dynamic team of faculty members committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic community.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  1. Teach a range of courses in event management, including event planning, marketing, risk management, and special event production.
  2. Develop and deliver engaging course content that meets the needs of diverse learners.
  3. Conduct high-quality research in event management and related areas, leading to publications in reputable academic journals.
  4. Engage in service activities, including committee work, outreach efforts, and collaboration with industry professionals.
  5. Participate in school-related recruiting and retention activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Event Management or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Evidence of an active research agenda with a focus on event management and related areas, including publications and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic community.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Widener University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
