Job Title: Digital Specialist Midwife

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our team as a Digital Specialist Midwife. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of digital transformation in maternity care, leading the design and implementation of national digital programmes and driving forward the digital agenda within the Better Births and Long-Term Plan Reports.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in midwifery and data management, with experience in working with databases, data analysis, and coding. They will be responsible for providing leadership, coordination, facilitation, evaluation, and improvement across the digital maternity work streams, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure clinical practice meets professional standards.

The role will involve supporting the design and implementation of national digital programmes, overseeing the tracking of progress against digital transformation plans, and developing a networked approach to enable digital transformation. The successful candidate will also play a key role in supporting NHS England to achieve its five digital missions, including reducing the burden on staff, giving people the tools they need to access information, ensuring safety, and improving productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of national digital programmes in maternity care
  • Provide leadership, coordination, facilitation, evaluation, and improvement across the digital maternity work streams
  • Work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure clinical practice meets professional standards
  • Support the tracking of progress against digital transformation plans
  • Develop a networked approach to enable digital transformation
  • Support NHS England to achieve its five digital missions
Requirements
  • First-level degree in a related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
  • Undertaken basic qualifications in the use of computer packages such as the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software
  • Post-graduate management qualification and/or equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive experience
  • Previous IT or data quality experience
  • Knowledge and experience of working with databases, data analysis, and coding
  • Ability to store data information safely and correctly
  • Good understanding of digital systems and advances to develop and manage electronic patient records
  • Service development experience, delivering clinical quality improvements and successful service change
Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth understanding of the national digital agenda, including the national maternity review and safer maternity care agenda
  • In-depth understanding of the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) and ability to apply the findings to improve service delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, report writing, and investigation skills
  • Committed to the provision of a high-quality safe service for women and their families
