St Joseph's Hospice is seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Therapist to join our Patient & Family Counselling Service team. As a member of this dedicated team, you will work closely with patients, families, and carers to provide systemic family therapy assessments and interventions in palliative care settings.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced therapist who can draw upon their expertise in systemic family therapy to deliver high-quality interventions that foster resilience and coping abilities in individuals and families facing serious illness or end-of-life care needs. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing therapeutic interventions and support to patients, families, and carers across various settings;
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care planning and delivery;
- Developing and maintaining resources for family-focused psychological work in palliative care;
- Maintaining ongoing awareness of risks to clients and taking appropriate action as required.
About St Joseph's Hospice
Our hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity, and we have a rich Catholic heritage that informs our mission to support and welcome those in need from diverse backgrounds. We provide high-quality specialist palliative care to patients with cancer and other life-threatening conditions across East and North London. Our team of clinical staff works collaboratively across community, in-patient, and out-patient services to deliver individualized, responsive, and holistic support to patients and their families/carers.
Benefits and Salary
This part-time role offers a competitive salary of approximately £42,000 per annum, along with a range of benefits including 27 days holiday plus public holidays (increasing up to 33 days with service), subsidised café access, season ticket/Welfare loans, and more. You will also be eligible for continuation of the NHS Pension Scheme or an excellent salary-exchange pension scheme.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require a qualification in a recognised psychological therapy at Masters level or equivalent, as well as experience working therapeutically with individuals and families experiencing life-changing illness or conditions. A strong understanding of systemic family therapy models and complex factors influencing individual and family dynamics is essential. Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and ability to maintain confidentiality are also crucial aspects of this position.
