An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual passionate about cancer services to join the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust's Cancer Centre team as the Macmillan Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse.
Main Responsibilities:- Deputise for the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, specialising in cancer care, and lead, influence, develop, and expand cancer services throughout the Trust.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals from primary and secondary care settings, Integrated Care System, NHS England, EMCA, patients, their representatives, and external agencies to ensure the delivery of cancer services within the Trust are consistent with national and local strategy.
- Develop a high-quality, effective, and efficient service to patients and healthcare professionals through leadership and supervision, robust clinical governance, and education.
- Support the East Midlands Cancer Alliance transformational projects to deliver the Personalised Care agenda and other initiatives alongside the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse.
- Strengthen and develop collaborative pathways, improving coordination of appropriate care across health professionals and organisations.
- Ensure the cancer workforce has the right skills, training, and behaviours, as well as the right support, to confidently deliver high-quality and compassionate care that reflects the challenges faced in current cancer care.
- Actively promote diversity and the implementation of innovative practices to meet the needs of culturally diverse populations.
- Support patient and public involvement within the Cancer Services by encouraging and promoting the involvement of users in planning, monitoring, and developing services.
- Lead on the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (NCPES), coordinating and analysing results, and presenting at relevant committees and forums.
- Registered Nurse/1st degree registered with NMC
- Advanced Communication Skills
- Relevant Nursing Degree
- Willing to work towards Master's qualification
- Leadership qualification
- Extensive clinical experience in cancer care
- Evidence of innovative practice developments and significant achievements gained
- Experience in the delivery of services for Cancer patients
- Proven record to initiate and manage service development
- Proven ability to manage and deliver complex and changing workload, which will include the need to resolve conflicting priorities within tight timescales
