Deputy Team Leader Opportunity in Recovery/PACU

We are seeking an experienced Recovery Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to take on a Band 6 Deputy Team Leader role in our Recovery/PACU department at Glenfield Theatres.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team and provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. As a Deputy Team Leader, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based care to patients, as well as coordinating and supervising staff involved in clinical duties.

You will be required to work a range of shift patterns to ensure post-operative care for all specialties is provided. In the absence of the Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring there is adequate support, safe mentorship, and supervision of learner nurses and all staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • Visible clinical expertise, leading multi-disciplinary teams daily to provide direction, effective, and inspirational leadership within the area of responsibility.
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based care to patients.
  • Co-ordination and supervision of staff involved in all aspects of clinical duties.
  • Deputise and manage the clinical area in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader.
  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team.
  • Actively contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users, and their families.
  • Act as a role model; mentoring, teaching, assessing, and supporting students/learners on placement and participate in the education, development, and mentorship of other staff.
Requirements
  • Recognised NMC Teaching and Assessing Qualification or equivalent.
  • Degree in nursing or health-related subject.
  • Clinical Leadership Programme (e.g. LEO, RCN, ILM).
Experience
  • Extensive experience within the area.
  • Good understanding of quality, safety, and risk management.
  • Experience of improving patient experience.
  • Audit experience/research skills.
Skills
  • Can analyse activity data and plans workforce accordingly.
  • Recognises own limitations.
  • Project management.
