About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled General Practitioner to join our GP Support team as a Deputy Medical Director. This is a part-time role, requiring two days of work per week, with a flexible approach to home working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of casework, providing expert advice to GPs and their practices on a range of issues, including:
  • Supporting GPs under investigation by NHS England for clinical performance concerns and/or behaviour/health concerns.
  • Advising GPs on matters related to time away from work, such as sickness, maternity leave, or carer's leave.
  • Providing guidance on appraisal and revalidation processes.
  • Assisting GPs and practices with complaint management and resolution of partnership issues.
  • Facilitating resolution of Primary Care Network (PCN) issues and disputes.
  • Advising on General Medical Services (GMS), Personal Medical Services (PMS), and Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) contractual matters.
  • Supporting the GP Support Team in addressing clinical issues arising from CQC inspections and/or contractual actions from commissioners.
  • Guiding GPs and practices on raising concerns about patient safety.
Requirements
  • A fully qualified and experienced GP with a strong commitment to the sustainability of general practice and its values.
  • Desirable experience in a regulatory, legal, or medical indemnity environment or as a partner in general practice.
  • A strong desire to support fellow GPs and their practices to achieve sustainability.
  • An understanding of NHS organisations and their roles.
