About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Services Manager to join our team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. As an Operational Services Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Outpatient Service Manager in the operational delivery and clinical governance of the administration side of the Outpatient Services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Outpatient Service Manager in the day-to-day and future planning for service improvements and transformational change.
  • Manage, develop, and empower the teams within the service.
  • Lead transformational change within one of our specialized areas of the Outpatient Department, including Health Records, Access to Records (legal requests), Reception, and the Patient Service Centre.
  • Assist in the patients' journey within the Outpatient Service from booking the appointment, to retrieving the healthcare record for the appointment and booking them in at reception for the appointment.
  • Listen to patient and staff feedback to deliver an excellent outpatient experience.

Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of management course.
  • 2 years' experience at a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Demonstrates patient-focused approach and resolving user concerns effectively.
  • Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.
  • Ability to develop skills of the team and motivate staff.
  • Ability to influence, motivate staff, and persuasion skills.
  • Good leadership qualities and ability to work calmly under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative using sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support junior members of the team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 years NHS experience in a variety of acute settings.
  • Experience of budget management.
  • Experience of managing PTLs.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the General Data Protection Act 2021, The Access to Records Act 1990, and the NHSX Records Management code of Practice 2021.
  • Continuous quality improvement.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Understands own limitations and seeks management support when appropriate.
  • Current understanding of the key issues facing the NHS both locally and nationally and the drive for improvement in the patient's experience.
