Job Summary

Mathieson's, a renowned bakery manufacturing chilled desserts and ambient products for leading retailers, is seeking an experienced Senior Innovation & Process Technologist. The ideal candidate will possess creativity, innovative thinking, and a passion for the food industry.

About the Role:

  1. NPD/EPD Process: Collaborate with the Development and Process Manager and NPD team to drive project delivery efficiently and effectively, adhering to critical path timelines and a defined NPD Stage/Gate Process.
  2. Innovation: Stay up-to-date with current and new food trends, MBL categories, and propose new potential products and ways of working aligned with the overall NPD/business strategy.
  3. Procurement: Source new ingredients, packaging, or raw materials (in conjunction with Development and Process Manager, Procurement, and Technical) from initial concept stage to ensure costs, samples, MOQ, and specs are received and shared with relevant teams within critical path timings.
  4. Building Relationships: Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with internal and external contacts, ensuring effective communication with existing and new customers and suppliers to achieve company objectives.
  5. Recipe Development: Possess solid experience and understanding of recipes, ingredients, and development processes to create products that meet briefs, considering technical compliance, operational constraints, and cost parameters.
  6. Factory Process: Have extensive experience and knowledge in product scale-up from Development Kitchen to factory, with an understanding of production processes. Maintain relationships with key persons in Operations, accurately recording and collating data from trials and launches.
  7. Technical Understanding: Understand product specifications and submission forms, confidently completing given paperwork within timeframes, with occasional crossover tasks to support the Technical Team.
  8. Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining the customer database and files, ensuring all customer information and files are up-to-date and easily accessible.
  9. Team Player: Work collaboratively with all internal departments to achieve company objectives, contributing on behalf of the NPD department and self-managing time and activities effectively.

Compensation: We offer a competitive salary range of £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for career growth in a dynamic environment.

Work Location: In-person work at our Mathiesons Bakery Ltd facility.
