About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Controller to join our Finance and Credit Control team at Birtwistles Food Group. As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing a ledger of 500+ customers, ranging from sole traders to large hospitality chains.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively recover payments for outstanding sales invoices as per the agreed terms.
  • Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity.
  • Prepare statements and provide customers with invoices and Proof of Delivery (PODs).
  • Post and allocate sales receipts to the ledger.
  • Complete all electronic billing and credit requests in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve queries.
  • Recommend accounts for escalation.
  • Check and scan PODs.
  • Process card payments.
  • Assist with reception duties as and when required.

Requirements:

  • Experience within Credit Control, managing a ledger.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Good IT skills and experience in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Enthusiastic approach towards work and keen to build customer relationships.
  • Good record of reliability in terms of attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong Excel experience (Pivot Tables/VLOOKUPs).
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of Sage 200, Procure Wizard, Acquire & ITS.
  • Experience in B2B credit control.
  • Organised and capable of prioritising workload.
  • Friendly personality with the ability to be persistent when chasing payments whilst remaining pleasant and always determined.
