Virtual Schools Advisor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Virtual Schools Primary/Secondary Advisor to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our education team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that children and young people have access to the best educational provision possible, accelerating their progress and attainment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the education vision, with a focus on raising attainment and avoiding exclusions for previously looked-after children.
- Lead and develop practice in key educational advances, sharing best practice with schools to influence school performance.
- Ensure practice and resources meet the needs of individuals, raising attainment within mainstream and SEND services.
- Utilize digital technologies, data, and innovation to ensure resources are deployed effectively.
- Lead the way in Equality & Diversity within schools and social care, ensuring equal opportunities for all children.
- Provide consistent challenge to senior leaders in schools and support for other professionals and parents/carers.
- Ensure a robust check and challenge process to maintain focus on plans, leading to consistent and sustainable raised attainment.
- Work collaboratively with the Education Senior Leadership team and post-adoption and SGO social care teams to identify areas of opportunity and deliver strategic plans.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and senior leadership experience within a school setting.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of current theory and research relating to education for children in care.
- Extensive experience of acting as an advocate and champion for children, positively challenging school practice where it falls short.
- Experience of effective implementation of school improvement strategies and initiatives, with successful outcomes.
- Experience of building strong networks across schools to facilitate and support the sharing of expertise and best practice.
