**Job Title:** Strategic Commissioning Manager

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Commissioning Manager to join our team at West Sussex County Council. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable older people by leading on commissioning projects that improve services and support needs.

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of the importance of adult social care and be able to develop key areas of our business through collaboration with external service providers and internal teams. A specific focus will be placed on managing commissioning projects to improve services for older people who have Care Act eligible care and support needs.

This role requires a highly motivated individual with well-developed analytic, literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and project management skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in leading and managing teams, as well as experience in commissioning in adult social care settings. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to analyse data effectively, and a commitment to making the customer experience better are also essential.

As part of the Older People's Commissioning Team, you will work closely with resident representatives, service providers, and internal teams to commission services that support older people to live the lives they want to lead. You will be responsible for developing proposals and business cases for transformation, supporting procurements, monitoring and managing large budgets, performance and risk, and adapting to ensure effective delivery of strategy and plans.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to network and build relationships with people across the council, using developed communication, organisational, interpersonal, and persuasion skills to build consensus for change and successfully embed new ways of working.

Please note that travel independently around the county may be required, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. We offer pool cars and pool bikes for this purpose.

**Salary:** £55,000-£65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
