About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented administrator to join our Anaesthetics Department. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Maternity Anaesthetics Outpatient clinics and the wider anaesthetic department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Book appointments and register new patients on the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
- Enter outpatient details on to EPR, and code clinics accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare clinics in accordance with appointment lists and consultant requirements.
- Welcome patients attending the Maternity Anaesthetic clinic and record arrival and departure times on EPR.
- Liaise with clinical staff and other departments to ensure a consistently high standard of service.
- Manage incoming telephone calls and emails, and respond to queries from referrers, patients, and other relevant parties.
- Assist with the implementation and training of paperless systems for Maternity Anaesthetics.
- Contribute to ongoing and future service development projects to support continuous improvement of the service.
Person Specification:
- Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 'C' grade GCSEs (including English Language and Maths).
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent NHS administrative experience.
- Competence in the use of and development of different computer software packages.
- Proven experience within an administrative role, with a basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience of working with the general public, with excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a positive approach to working in complex environments.
