The Scottish Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Railway Rolling Stock Programme Manager. This is a key role that will play a critical part in shaping the future of Scotland's transportation infrastructure.
About the Role
As a Railway Rolling Stock Programme Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a rolling stock strategy that aligns with the Scottish Government's strategic objectives for rail in Scotland. This will involve working closely with Transport Scotland Policy and Strategy teams to ensure that proposed infrastructure and rolling stock enhancements deliver desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a rolling stock strategy that takes into account the rolling stock implications of new infrastructure projects
- Provide advice on all aspects of existing and future rolling stock requirements for passenger and rail freight
- Advise on rolling stock procurement, maintenance, and renewal
- Work with Transport Scotland Policy and Strategy teams to validate that proposed infrastructure and rolling stock enhancements deliver desired outcomes
- Contribute to the drafting of Ministerial Briefings, FMQs, Parliamentary Questions, FoI/EiRs, and Official Responses
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer or member of a relevant professional institution
- Experience in a range of passenger and/or freight rolling stock disciplines
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Strong research and report writing skills
- Understanding of project development and programming principles
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time role based in Glasgow, with hybrid working in line with current Transport Scotland policies. You will be expected to be office-based twice per week, pro rata.
