About the Role

First Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Technical HSE Engineer to join their team in Basingstoke on a permanent staff basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical safety professional looking to progress their career with a leading energy company.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safety in design is prioritised across all projects. You will drive safety requirements forward and ensure facility designs and project management adhere to stringent safety standards.

  1. Main Responsibilities
  2. Lead technical safety design and manage projects from feasibility to detailed design phases.
  3. Perform safety studies and analysis including loss prevention, fire protection, risk analysis (QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA), and hazardous area classification.
  4. Develop HSE philosophies and conduct RAM studies.
  5. Supervise and guide subordinate team members, ensuring compliance with technical standards and project timelines.
  6. Provide technical support and oversee document reviews and approvals.
  7. Participate in safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL assessments.
  8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of safety requirements across projects.

Requirements

  • Experience: Significant experience in technical safety within the energy sector.
  • Expertise: Expertise in risk identification, assessment, and safety design.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, accredited by a chartered engineering institute. Chartered Engineer or Certified Process Safety Practitioner status preferred.
  • Desirable Skills: Experience in onshore/offshore oil and gas, LNG, CCS, and renewables projects is desirable.
