Job Overview:

Schools across Brighton require highly skilled and dedicated SENCO Assistants to provide tailored support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As an SENCO Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to deliver high-quality support and interventions that promote student success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver targeted support to students with SEND, including 1:1 and small group sessions, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  2. Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies for students with SEND.
  3. Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement differentiated teaching methods that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  4. Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing regular feedback on student progress and involving them in the development of support plans.
  5. Contribute to the creation of an inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes equal opportunities for all students.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working with students with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant SEND legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
