Job Title: Knitwear Design Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Knitwear Design Assistant to join our team at Crew Clothing Head Office. As a Knitwear Design Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the design team, ensuring the smooth operation of design tasks, presentations, and studio maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Administration:
  • Manage sample inventory, ensuring samples are organized and easily accessible
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the design team, including costings and booking travel and accommodation
  • Maintain a well-organized design studio, recommending improvements to enhance the creative environment
  • Perform general office duties, including filing, post, answering telephone calls, and monitoring stationery stock levels
  • Take notes during presentations as required
  • Assist in setting up meeting rooms and presentations
  • Chase up samples from suppliers
  • Maintain product boards and ensure they are up-to-date

Design Support:
  • Conduct research on current trends and styling, maintaining a library of reference materials for designers
  • Update range plans, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date, in liaison with the artworker
  • Support designers with basic CAD and coloring in Adobe CS4
  • Prepare artwork for suppliers, including factory sheets and CDs
  • Maintain a fabric and trim folder library, ensuring it is well-organized and easily accessible
  • Work with designers to update lab dip files
  • Support designers in communicating with suppliers on the product development cycle
  • Organize product development documentation

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a degree or equivalent qualification in fashion design or a related field. Excellent computer skills in CAD, Adobe, Illustrator, Excel, and other related programs are essential. A good eye for detail, organizational skills, and a pride in work are also required. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a good team player, have a keen interest in fashion, design, and the market place, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
