About the Role

Marie Curie is creating a unique Hospital Companion service in Plymouth to support individuals at end of life. As a Volunteer Companion, you will play a vital role in shaping this service and improving patient experiences in both Mount Gould and Derriford Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and a reassuring presence to people at end of life and their loved ones
  • Offer practical information, support, and signposting to local services such as bereavement support and advanced care planning
  • Promote the Hospital Companion service within the hospital setting and the local community
  • Complete regular reports on each hospital visit
  • Attend volunteer wellbeing sessions, team meetings, and refresher training
