MMP Consultancy, a leading provider of Building Control services in Northwest London, seeks a highly skilled Senior Building Control Surveyor to join their team on a temporary basis for six months. This Class 2a position offers hybrid working opportunities, but the ideal candidate must have access to their own vehicle for site visits within the council.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Building Control Surveyor in overseeing an area and assuming their responsibilities when needed.
  • Review and evaluate Full Plans, Building Notices, and Regularisation Applications to guarantee compliance with the Building Regulations and related legislation.
  • Inspect construction sites to confirm conformity with Building Regulations.
  • Advice applicants on required changes and negotiate compliance with regulations.
  • Support and supervise junior staff, ensuring their continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the marketing of the Building Control Service to attract new business and expand income opportunities.
  • Provide pre-application advice on complex building projects.
  • Manage complex building projects, including fee negotiations and securing major development opportunities.
  • Evaluate and document work accurately and within specified timelines.

Requirements:

  • A detailed understanding of current Building Control procedures and legislation.
  • Experience in inspecting building works and handling complex applications.
  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate with developers and applicants.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in a supervisory or senior role within Building Control (desirable).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to high-quality service delivery, customer care, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: CABE/RICS or a directly relevant degree or BTEC Higher qualification, with comprehensive Building Control experience and on the register at 2a.
  • Desirable: Additional qualifications or experience in complex construction techniques.

The estimated salary for this position is £45,000-£55,000 per annum, considering the location and industry standards. As a key member of the MMP Consultancy team, you will contribute to delivering exceptional services and driving business growth in Northwest London.
