Job Description

The Site Director of EOC UK (Manchester) is responsible for the overall management, operations, and performance of the site in Manchester. This includes ensuring that all resources are used efficiently and effectively, leading and managing teams to optimize site performance, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

The site in Manchester has 26 FTE employees and produces adhesives and compounds. The Site Director will oversee day-to-day plant operations, develop and implement strategic plans to optimize production operations, reduce costs, and achieve production targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate day-to-day operations of the site, including staff, customers, and other stakeholders, compliance, and physical assets.
  • Oversee day-to-day plant operations to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans to optimize production operations, reduce costs, and achieve production targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce lead times, and maximize site potential.
  • Implement best practices in technology and innovation.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate site employees.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all employees, adopting a positive and collaborative workplace environment.
  • Develop and mentor staff to enhance their skills and capabilities through assessments and training.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure a seamless supply chain.
  • Liaise with customers when required to maintain strong business relationships.
  • Liaise with solicitors and barristers on behalf of the company.
  • Manage site contractors, professional bodies, and legal representatives.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies to ensure continuous improvement in line with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all site personnel.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce quality control procedures to ensure the production of high-quality materials.
  • Monitor quality assurance systems, procedures, and workflows.
  • Optimize the use of resources, including raw materials, equipment, and manpower to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Manage and maintain all fixed assets/equipment.
  • Advise and assist in the development and implementation of projects.
  • Liaise with EOC Board of Directors.
  • Manage site budgets and resources.
  • Implement corporate standards in collaboration with senior management and site employees.
  • Align local site objectives with overall company goals.
  • Drive forward H&S initiatives, training, and adopt a positive culture.
  • Set the site H&S policy and provisions, including ensuring sufficient resources are available to comply.
  • Co-operate with colleagues on H&S matters both from a corporate and a local level.
  • Liaise with external bodies, regulatory authorities, and government organizations on behalf of the company.
  • Set the site environmental policy and provisions, including ensuring sufficient resources are available to comply with environmental permit and other regulations.
  • Drive forward environmental standards, initiatives, training, and adopt a positive culture.
  • Responsible for avoiding pollution (water, air, noise, or land) and reporting of pollution and/or potential pollution incidents to relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Set the site quality policy and provisions (based on corporate standards), including ensuring sufficient resources are available to comply.
  • Drive forward the quality standard, initiatives, training, and adopt a positive culture to minimize defects.
  • Product liability.
  • ISO certification.
  • Quality manual and the quality management systems on site.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Chemistry, Engineering, (B.A./B.Sc.) or equivalent in a scientific discipline is required.
  • Master's degree is preferable.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within manufacturing, preferably in the chemical sector.
  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement, productivity, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and implement process improvements.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of relevant software and systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to respond to ad hoc situations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
  • Hierarchical managerial responsibility: 20-30 employees.
  • Functional managerial responsibility: HR/Accounts, Quality Assurance/Control, Sales, SHEQ, Transport, Production, and Engineering.
