The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safeguarding Manager to join our team at Arsenal. As a key member of our safeguarding team, you will play a vital role in promoting, embedding, and delivering a safe and inclusive culture within our organization.

In this critical role, you will work closely with our Head of Safeguarding to manage, develop, implement, and review systems to safeguard and protect children and young people involved in our activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to key stakeholders on safeguarding best practices and procedures.
  • Lead on all safeguarding investigations, ensuring that allegations of poor practice, serious incidents, or allegations of abuse are thoroughly investigated and resolved.
  • Deliver safeguarding workshops and training sessions to relevant colleagues, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
  • Attend AWFC Academy tours, undertaking risk assessments and ensuring that safeguarding protocols are in place.
  • Chair regular Arsenal in the Community and Arsenal Women Safeguarding meetings, working with Designated Safeguarding Officers to ensure that safeguarding issues are appropriately considered and shared.
  • Support the delivery of the strategic objectives of Arsenal Women, working with our Team Operations Manager and Player Care Manager to ensure that safeguarding best practice is followed.
  • Support the delivery of strategic aims of the Commercial department, ensuring that safeguarding resources are adequate and that Designated Safeguarding Officers are trained.

  • A qualified expert in safeguarding, with a professional qualification in the field.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence, with a high level of self-awareness and an aptitude for conflict resolution and dealing with sensitive issues.
  • A creative problem-solver, able to implement safeguarding solutions in a football or sporting context.
  • Excellent relationship builder, able to work directly with children, young people, adults at risk, and their parents/carers.
  • A trusted investigator, able to manage the investigation of safeguarding cases and referrals to external agencies.
  • A background in delivering training, with experience of designing and delivering training sessions and workshops.
  • An analytical mindset, able to analyze safeguarding data and prepare reports with detailed commentary.
  • A proven track record of implementing policies, with experience of administering policies and protocols, guidance, and writing reports and compiling case file information.
