Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Sales Office Director to lead our internal sales team at our site in Reading. As part of the Macfarlane Group, you will be responsible for managing and developing the sales activities to achieve exceptional results. The successful candidate will have a strong leadership style with a proven track record of coaching, training, and developing team members.

About the Role:
  • The Sales Office Director will manage and lead the internal sales team, ensuring that sales activities are maximised and targets are exceeded.
  • The role requires setting and monitoring individual and team targets, implementing full performance management and development initiatives, including training and coaching.
  • The Sales Office Director will also ensure that the highest standard of sales support, administration, and customer service is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities:
  1. Team Management: Establish targets and objectives, conduct Performance and Development Assessments, and foster opportunities for professional development and coaching.
  2. Sales Strategy: Set and agree sales targets and pricing strategies to maximise profitability while maintaining competitiveness.
  3. CRM Utilisation: Ensure proactive utilisation of CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) by the internal sales team to diligently follow up on all sales leads, enquiries, and quotations.
  4. Account Development: Take a proactive role in developing existing accounts, identifying and capitalising on opportunities for up-selling across the product portfolio.
  5. Performance Management: Undertake performance management processes as necessary to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards of performance within the team.
  6. Sales Administration: Oversee all sales administration processes to ensure timely and efficient completion, utilising CRM (MS Dynamics) and internal systems for streamlined operations.
  7. Reporting: Generate and submit relevant reports within designated timescales to monitor sales input, invoicing, and margins, taking corrective action as necessary.
  8. Customer Visits: Collaborate with Sales Executives, participating in customer visits as required to strengthen client relationships and drive sales opportunities.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar internal sales team/sales office management role.
  • A strong leadership style with a proven track record of coaching, training, and developing team members.
  • Prior experience working within a sales distribution/merchant or wholesale environment.
  • Experience in managing both inbound and outbound office-based sales teams.
  • Proficient IT skills, including intermediate-level proficiency in Excel, MS Office, and CRM systems.
  • A strong numeric aptitude, with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively.
