Job Description

Inhabit Group is a leading provider of specialist engineering services, and we are seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Sustainability to join our team in London.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in sustainability and building physics, with experience in delivering projects and growing business. They will be responsible for leading our Sustainability Team, delivering sustainable and low-energy design projects, and growing the Sustainability function within Inhabit.

The role will involve collaborating with clients to help them predict, assess, and improve their sustainability performance, as well as developing and implementing business development strategies to grow the Sustainability Team. The candidate will also be responsible for mentoring and developing junior members of staff and supporting their career growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Sustainability Team to deliver sustainability assessment and design consultancy services;
  • Conducting calculations, computer modeling, and preparing professional consultancy reports, proposals, or presentations;
  • Project management, delivery, and senior stakeholder management;
  • Business development for the Sustainability Team through new and existing client base;
  • Supporting work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues, and external profile-raising of Inhabit services;
  • Mentoring and developing more junior members of staff and supporting growth in their careers;

Qualifications and experience required include:

  • Degree holder in engineering/science related to green building, civil & environmental, sustainability, building services, mechanical & electrical or equivalent;
  • Extensive experience in green building assessment, sustainability assessment consultancy services;
  • Experience of working on projects in the Middle East would be advantageous;
  • Experience of ASHRAE 90.1 OR 90.2;
  • Ability to develop Carbon Reduction strategies;
  • Ability to estimate costs for Part O, Part L and embodied carbon assessments;
  • Understanding of Nabors, BREEAM, LEED, TM65, etc.;
  • Maintain an established understanding of building physics such as thermal bridging, air movement, wind, solar, etc.
