About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Supervisor to join our team in Manchester. As a key member of our logistics department, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of our transport function, ensuring that our vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, and that our drivers are managed effectively to meet customer demands.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist our logistics management team in the efficient operation of the transport function
  • Ensure that the trunking operation runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the evening
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in line with regulatory requirements
  • Assist drivers with tasks in the transport yard when required
  • Assist with boxing vehicles for deliveries
  • Ensure drivers are managed correctly to work within driver's hours and working time regulations, using company-recognized processes to manage full compliance
  • Investigate any incidents, accidents, and near misses when required
  • Assist the training team with the addition of new drivers to the transport department
  • Support the logistics manager and training team with the recruitment of new drivers

About You

We're looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a strong background in transport management. Essential skills and knowledge include:

  • Experience working within a transport office for multi-drop deliveries
  • Minimum of 1 year's team leader/management experience within a transport or logistics office

Desirable skills and knowledge include:

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel
  • Strong knowledge of driver hours and working time regulations
  • Strong knowledge of driver compliance
  • IOSH certificate and first aid certificate
  • LGVC licence and CPC card
