Job Title: Senior Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal and clinical care to patients, including assisting with daily living activities and administering medications.
  • Conduct clinical observations and report any changes or concerns to registered practitioners.
  • Support registered practitioners in the completion of care plans and risk assessments.
  • Assist in the care of patients with pressure ulcers and prevention of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers.
  • Perform and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Collect and record samples, including urine and stools, and report results to registered practitioners.
  • Assist in the Last Offices for deceased patients, ensuring that all religious and cultural wishes are adhered to.
  • Ensure patients' nutritional needs are met through assisting in the preparation of meals and beverages.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and healthcare practitioners, and contribute to effective Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) work.
Requirements:
  • Educated to Vocational Qualification/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
  • Holds National Care Certificate or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
  • Holds Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English or education equivalent.
  • Experience working in a healthcare team and patient settings.
  • Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control and Safeguarding processes.
