Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Support Worker to join our Young Persons Transition Pathway team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide formalized peer support and practical assistance to service users, empowering them to regain control over their lives and recovery journey.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health challenges and a personal lived experience of accessing inpatient mental health services. You will be able to positively share your life experiences and personal knowledge of mental health challenges with service users and carers, inspiring hope and belief in recovery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing formalized peer support and practical assistance to service users
  • Facilitating and supporting information sharing to promote choice, self-determination, and opportunities for socially valued roles and connection to local communities
  • Embedding recovery values within the service and acting as an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organizations

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Commitment to obtain underpinning knowledge through work-based learning and mandatory training
  • Willingness to undertake or completion of ImROC Peer Support training
  • Personal lived experience of mental health challenges and experience of accessing inpatient mental health services
  • Ability to demonstrate first-person experiential knowledge of recovery and ability to communicate on all levels
