About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Peer Support Worker to join our team in the Young Persons Transition Pathway at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality individual supervision to Peer Support Workers in community services, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to support service users effectively.
  • Be actively involved in the recruitment process of Peer Support Workers, including participating in interview panels to identify suitable candidates.
  • Engage with internal services to ensure robust processes are in place for the recruitment and maintenance of wellbeing of Peer Support Workers, promoting a culture of safety and support.
  • Co-deliver training, including accredited courses and learning and development activities within the Recovery College, to enhance the skills and knowledge of Peer Support Workers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with service users, carers, and colleagues, with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • Completed Peer Support Worker training (preferably accredited) and evidence of further training in relation to personal recovery principles.
  • Own personal lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges and recent experience of transitioning from Young Persons to Adult mental health services.
  • Experience of having personally utilised secondary mental health services and experience of positively sharing own life experiences, and personal recovery journey, with service users, carers, and others.
  • Ability to demonstrate first-person experiential knowledge of recovery and evidence of good interpersonal skills and an ability to form peer relationships with service users and carers.
