Job Title: Mental Health Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with mental health concerns and creating a nurturing learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and/or adults who display challenging behavior, as well as a passion for supporting students' mental health. You will work closely with staff and students to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may face.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on emotional regulation, self-care techniques, and social skills development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teachers in managing the behavior and specialist needs of young people.

Qualifications:
  • Team Teach trained, or willing to participate in a 2-day Team Teach training course.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.

Estimated Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum

Taking into account the location and industry standards, we estimate the salary for this role to be between £28,000 and £35,000 per annum.
