Job Overview

The successful candidate will work independently in an Acute Geriatric Ward, reviewing acutely unwell frail older patients and common problems they present with, such as falls, confusion, decreased mobility, and weight loss. They will perform a multidisciplinary comprehensive geriatric assessment and develop ambulatory management plans in collaboration with community services.

Main Responsibilities

The Geriatric Medicine Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily ward rounds of inpatients, primarily Elderly Care patients, with junior teams and Consultant supervision.
  • Reviewing frail older patients in MUDAS, preventing admissions, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team for older people.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • UK GMC Registration with License to Practice.
  • Full MRCP.
  • ALS Certificate in date.

Additionally, they will have:

  • Ability to demonstrate broad clinical skills in the management of all patients.
  • 24 months general professional training experience at SHO level in general and acute medicine.
  • Experience working at IMT3 or ST3 level.

We require all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
