Job Description

Job Title: Ward Manager

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ward, ensuring that high-quality patient care is delivered in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deputising for the Matron: The post-holder will be required to take on additional responsibilities as needed, including deputising for the Matron in their absence.
  2. Site Wide Co-ordination: The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking site-wide co-ordination roles as required, ensuring that all aspects of the ward's operations are running smoothly.
  3. Relationship Building: The post-holder will be expected to establish and build on excellent working relationships between other services within and external to the Directorate.
  4. Quality Assurance: The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that systems are in place which invite service users and their carers to comment on the quality of services they receive.
  5. Complaints Procedure: The post-holder will be responsible for implementing the complaints procedure, including investigation, response, and resolution.
  6. Line Management: The successful candidate will be expected to keep their line manager informed of all developments and changes within the ward environment.
  7. Medication Management: The post-holder will be responsible for the safe storage and administration of medications.
  8. Learning Environment: The successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain an environment which is conducive to learning and which meets the educational standards required by Educational Institutions whose students are placed on the ward.
  9. Training and Education: The post-holder will be responsible for facilitating the ward's involvement in the training and education of staff from a variety of disciplines.
  10. Project Participation: The successful candidate will be expected to participate in projects within the Unit and Trust as required by the senior management of the Directorate.
