As an assistant manager, you will support the wider team and assist managers to deliver work across a portfolio of corporate clients, focusing on technical accounting, financial reporting, and consolidations.

This includes the practical application of accounting standards under FRS 102, IFRS, and FRS 101, group reconstructions, and accounting considerations, conversion to different GAAPs, technical accounting papers, and acquisition accounting support. The role also involves preparing and managing statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting managers to deliver complex accountancy-related projects for clients as they arise, such as IFRS transition consultancy work or support on acquisition accounting and complex consolidations.
  • Developing and maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and fulfilling the professional bodies' CPD requirements, including maintaining an awareness of the firm's specialist services and publications.
  • Acting as a focal point of contact with clients, communicating any problems or contentious issues identified to the manager or responsible partner, and identifying/suggesting solutions.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and projects, including client care responsibilities, project management, and WIP/billing management.
  • Liaising with other departments within the office, especially the audit and tax teams, to ensure agreed deadlines are met and significant issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Acting as a coach to more junior members of the team and participating in staff training and supervision as required.

A willingness to travel to clients' premises is required, but the significant proportion of work is likely to be office-based.
