We are seeking a highly motivated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow. As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of learning needs, leveraging your psychology knowledge to make a positive impact on their educational and social experiences.

About the Position

  • Work closely with students on a one-to-one or small-group basis to build confidence, promote positive behaviors, and enhance learning strategies.
  • Provide additional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Use psychological principles to assist in behavior management and reinforce positive interactions.
  • Support students in managing anxiety, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Help students understand and apply classroom content, offering practical study strategies and breaking down complex material to foster learning independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report student progress to the teaching team, identifying areas for development and recommending targeted interventions.
  • Participate in workshops and group activities that promote social and emotional development among students.
  • Prepare and organize materials for lessons, manage resources, and handle light administrative tasks to support teachers in their daily routines.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and develop essential life skills.

Requirements

  • A degree in psychology or a related field, with a keen interest in applying psychological insights in educational settings.
  • Eager to contribute positively to students' academic and personal growth, with an interest in exploring careers in education or mental health support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students and communicate effectively.
  • Flexible and patient approach, ready to adjust methods to meet the individual needs of each student.
