Job Summary

This is a 6-month fixed-term position that requires supporting the Medical Secretarial Team in delivering a comprehensive administrative service. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inpatient and outpatient waiting lists, communicating appointments and admission-related information to patients and carers, and typing correspondence within performance targets.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff, and carers, requiring tact and diplomacy.
  • Handle telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality, using personal judgment to assess each situation.
  • Deliver a high standard of communication to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Deliver a high standard of typing.
  • Schedule appointments and theatre lists for cancer, urgent, and routine patients, in line with NHS wait times.
  • Work closely with Clinical, management, and administration teams to ensure the best possible care and experience is delivered to patients.
  • Support overall administration duties required for an efficient and effective service.
