Carbon Zero Consulting is a part of the Geosciences team within the RSK Group, one of the UK's largest geotechnical and contaminated land consultancies with ambitious growth plans for the future. We require a Geo-Environmental Ground Source Heat Pump Consultant to join the team. The ideal candidate should be within commuting distance from our offices in Birmingham, Coventry, or Derby

The consultant will be responsible for field work activities throughout the UK, such as borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests, and groundwater pump tests. Responsibilities will vary according to previous experience levels.

Project work must be carried out with due diligence, adhered to by RSK procedures, and completed within agreed cost budgets and time scales. Good communication is required to inform and liaison with clients periodically with updates and any issues raised. It is expected that consultant-grade staff should be self-motivated, exhibit a proactive approach, be willing to travel, and work well within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking, supervising, or reviewing field work activities throughout the UK, such as borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests, and groundwater pump tests in line with national standards and codes of practice.
  • Managing fieldwork activities and subcontractors.
  • Undertaking project management duties and resolving any technical issues.
  • Writing factual and/or interpretative reports.
In Addition, Depending On Experience
  • Managing various geo-environmental and/or geotechnical projects for both external clients and other teams within RSK.
  • Providing technical and scientific support at all stages of assigned projects and controlling project costs.
  • Preparing and checking technical notes, drawings, and geotechnical and/or geo-environmental reports.
  • Preparing proposals and tenders and contributing to business development activity.
  • Traveling to other offices and sites within the UK (as needed).
Qualifications And Experience
  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Interest in field work and managing drilling and testing operations.
  • Aptitude for setting up field equipment.
  • Ability to manually lift and assemble heavy or bulky field equipment.
  • Interest in geology and processes such as drilling and groundwater testing.
  • Interest in renewable energy technologies and their application.
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel, GIS, and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK driving licence.
