Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Team Lead
Job Summary
As a Senior Vehicle Preparation Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring our front line crews are ready and able to respond to emergency situations by preparing our vehicle fleet and equipment to high standards. Our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) team is responsible for preparing ambulances for responding to emergency calls, and we are looking for a committed team leader to join our team during a period of transformation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will join our team in a period of transformation as we implement the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) service into Devon. The AVP service involves cleaning, restocking, and refuelling ambulances every day, in contrast to the current Make Ready teams that perform a deep clean every 6 weeks. This change is necessary to adapt to growing pressure from increasing patient demand levels.
As a team leader, you will be responsible for cleaning and restocking ambulances, working alongside our Vehicle Preparation Operatives. The team processes ambulances in a prescribed and controlled way to ensure each ambulance is ready to treat patients. The role is a key operational support function that ensures patient safety while supporting Operations in meeting its targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed cleaning and infection prevention & control activities
- Checking and inspecting medical devices
- Restocking consumables
- Refuelling and driving vehicles across various locations
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a current full driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points. Holding a C1 category on your driving licence is preferred, and training can be provided in-house.
You will also need to have previous supervisory experience, experience of working within a public service or customer care environment, and experience of driving various types of vehicles.
Working for Us
Working for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is an experience like no other. We provide emergency and urgent care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, operating across the largest ambulance region in England and responding to an average of 2,650 incidents every day.
We remain committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible care for all our patients, which is reflected in our new five-year strategy that has continually improving patient care at its very core.
The role is based in Bristol, a lively yet laid-back city with top-class shopping, street food, dynamic events, and friendly festivals and excellent national and international transport links.
