Low Voltage Cable Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Cable Engineer to join our team at National Grid plc. As part of this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the company's electricity distribution systems, which involve working outdoors with underground cables, overhead lines, and substations that operate between 230 and 132,000 volts.
About the RoleThe apprenticeship programme lasts for approximately three years and includes periods of on-the-job training and development. During this time, you will learn from experienced and qualified Jointers who carry out excavation, cable laying, reinstatement, and fault location on LV cables.
Your responsibilities will include constructing distribution substations, excavating, laying, and jointing cables, and terminating cables to plant. You will also be responsible for carrying out routine inspections, locating faults, and repairing underground cables and equipment.
