Job Overview

The NHS National Services Scotland is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Learning Disability Nurse to join our team in Orkney. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as a key member of the multidisciplinary learning disability community health and social care team.

About the Role

This full-time position, based in Kirkwall, requires excellent communication, organisational and people skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering person-centred care needs to children and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, enabling them to access mainstream services where possible.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assessing, planning and delivering person-centred care needs to individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  2. Working as a specialist resource providing clinical expertise, knowledge and skills in the promotion and maintenance of optimum health for individuals with complex health needs.
  3. Liaising with primary health care teams located throughout the islands and facilitating specialist learning disability support from NHS Grampian.
  4. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide annual health checks for individuals with learning disabilities as specified in 'The Annual Health Checks for People with Learning Disabilities (Scotland) Directions'.

Requirements

  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse qualification.
  • Experience of positive behaviour intervention.
  • A car driver with access to a vehicle.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is £33,479 - £41,322 per annum, including distance islands allowance pro rata. Excellent benefits package available, including pension scheme and opportunities for professional development.
