Role Responsibility

Kent County Council's Strengthening Independence Service is renowned for the exceptional support provided by its Social Workers, whose dedication and commitment shine through their work.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Practitioner to join our Disabled Children's Team, covering the South East of the County. Our team consists of Social Workers, Social Work Assistants, and Occupational Therapists, and we pride ourselves on being committed to promoting the welfare of disabled children. We work in close partnership with families and other agencies to provide packages of care and support, while ensuring disabled children are safeguarded.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise Social Workers and Social Work Assistants
  • Deliver reflective practice sessions to the team
  • Support the team manager in their absence
  • Chair team meetings and oversee the work of the team
  • Provide cover for the team manager

The successful candidate will be experienced in working with Child Protection, Child in Need, and Children in Care/Court Proceedings. They will be a role model for good practice and a champion for their area of expertise.

We require the successful candidate to be Social Work England registered with a social work degree and to have substantial and varied experience of working with children and their carers and families. Experience in Children's Services is essential, including child protection and an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position, and the Council has a statutory duty to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
