Band 7 – MHST Senior Therapist
NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering high-quality mental health services to children and young people in Barking and Dagenham. We are seeking an experienced Senior Therapist to lead our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in providing evidence-based early intervention for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.
Main Duties of the Job
As the Senior Therapist, you will be responsible for leading a team of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in addressing mild to moderate mental health issues within the school setting. You will provide consultations to assist staff in supporting children and young people with more complex needs, helping them access appropriate support and establishing a link to CAMHS and other relevant services.
Key Responsibilities
- Form strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including education colleagues, parents, and carers.
- Supervise a team of EMHPs, providing clinical supervision and guidance to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based time-limited interventions to young people within education settings.
- Develop and deliver training packages to education colleagues on mental health and wellbeing.
- Evidencing the outcomes of the MHST service, including data collection and analysis.
- Providing clinical supervision to trainee EMHPs.
Requirements
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Senior Therapist who has a strong background in mental health and wellbeing. You will need to have:
Successful completion of a postgraduate training in a relevant field, such as psychotherapy, nursing, or social work.Registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body, such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).Experience of delivering CBT interventions to children and young people and their families.Experience of managing risk and safeguarding in CYP settings.Working for NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period, unless they are currently part-way through a probationary period or are a bank member of staff.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum).
