About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Fevaca, a leading provider of support services for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services within our children's home in Ipswich.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Care
    • Develop and implement support plans to promote the development of children and protect them from harm.
    • Ensure key stages in the stay of children are properly managed and reflect decisions recorded in care plans.
    • Provide additional support to children facing crises and stresses.
    • Involve children in planning their lives and support them in taking greater control and responsibility.
  • Staff Management
    • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff.
    • Ensure new staff are fully supported and complete their induction packs.
    • Provide informal and formal support to staff working with you.
    • Offer monthly supervision to staff delegated to you, ensuring supervision is delivered throughout the supervision structure of your department.
  • Interagency Working
    • Develop and maintain positive communication with external professionals, including social work teams, police, and housing services.
    • Liaise with OFSTED and other relevant bodies as directed by the Registered Manager.
  • Reporting and Compliance
    • Work with the Registered Manager to deliver monthly statistical data on outcomes for children.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and FEVACA policies.
Requirements
  • Positive and non-judgmental value base.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, including safeguarding, children's homes regulations, and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to represent the organization to external bodies and members of the community.
  • Willingness to complete direct work and shifts, including sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays, when necessary.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience of working with vulnerable children in a residential environment.
  • Good standard of written and verbal English, including report writing and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework for the field.
  • Completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services in the children and young people's residential management pathway or equivalent.
