Job Overview

Mclaren Racing is a leading player in the world of motorsport, and we're seeking a talented Racing Tyre Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Performance Function, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the success of our racing programme.

About the Role

  • You'll be responsible for providing expert tyre-related support during events, including tyre operations and tyre performance analysis.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports to Vehicle Performance, Race Engineering, and the wider team, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending optimisations.
  • Analyse track data to characterise tyre performance and identify weaknesses, enabling us to refine our vehicle set-up and drive further success.
  • Continuously develop and improve our tyre analysis capabilities, leveraging your expertise in data-driven analysis and tool development.
  • Foster strong relationships with colleagues across Performance, Race Engineering, and the wider Engineering Department.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in tyre understanding and analysis, as well as broader vehicle modelling knowledge.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in tyre performance analysis techniques.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in tyre and performance analysis, preferably in a Performance Engineering or Race Engineering context.
  • Sound understanding of trade-offs between tyres, mechanical setup, and aerodynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB for analysis tool development.
