Advanced Practice Training Programme Director

Advanced practitioners play a vital role in enhancing capacity and capability within multi-professional teams by supporting existing and more established roles. They help to improve clinical continuity, provide more patient-focused care, enhance the multi-professional team, and ensure safe, accessible, and high-quality care for patients.
About the RoleThe Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice is seeking experienced advanced practitioners/clinicians who understand the advanced practice framework and can support all aspects of training, supervision, job roles, and workforce needs for advanced practitioners. They will report to the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and support the National Centre for Advancing Practice work on Advanced Practice, feeding into the NHSE Advancing Practice Steering Group.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on advanced practice specialty-specific matters happening regionally and nationally.
- Support recruitment to advanced practice training posts and programmes and manage trainee/trainer concerns.
- Use educational resources to support learners within programmes to fulfill their full potential.
- Advanced Practice programme management, including assessments, progression, support, and remediation, trainee management, careers support, and less than full-time training.

The post holder will have the opportunity to influence and shape the role as it develops and offer innovative ideas to transform the education and training of future advanced practitioners.
Person SpecificationQualifications
Essential
- Education to Masters' level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area and healthcare leadership.
- Current membership to a regulatory body/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare education management or commissioning, acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training.
Knowledge and Experience

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the national advancing practice agenda.
- Experience of bringing and supporting advanced practice trainees into a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of AP roles within a range of healthcare settings from all professional groups (nursing, AHPs, and pharmacists).
- Understanding of the educational requirements of Advanced practice trainees in practice.
