Job Summary

The Violence Reduction Team is seeking a skilled professional to assist in the prevention and reduction of crime in the borough through case management of individuals with identified mental health issues who have perpetrated or are at risk of violence and struggle to access/engage in mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the prevention and reduction of crime in the borough through case management of individuals with identified mental health issues.
  • Undertake initial engagement, assessment of risk, needs, and provide support in accessing appropriate services.
  • Facilitate evidence-based interventions that aim to reduce reoffending, utilizing current best practice including a knowledge and understanding of the trauma recovery model and restorative approaches.
  • Facilitate service user access and engagement with required mental health services in order to support prevention/recovery.
  • Develop individual re-integration plans to meet the needs of offenders, ensuring that needs identified are monitored through the individual action plans and reviewed at regular intervals.
  • Identify a network of agencies and services that will support offenders in the community, with emphasis on addressing the individual needs for education, training, employment, accommodation, and health support.
  • Facilitate multi-agency meetings to manage risk, and identify lead professionals for each service user where appropriate.
  • Provide advocacy and support that will facilitate the personal and social development of service users of the project.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of the progress of individual clients, and prepare reports as required.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of criminal justice legislation, particularly the Crime and Disorder Act, and related fields including ETE, housing linked to criminogenic need.
  • Knowledge of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and their importance in working with perpetrators and victims in a risk-based environment.
Additional Information

This position will be based in South East London.
