Overseeing Financial Planning Success


As a critical member of our leadership team, the Regional Director will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our business through effective local business development activities and strategic national opportunities. This role will be responsible for all aspects of adviser performance, development, and engagement, ensuring the team maintains competence and meets performance targets.



  • Maintaining competence and performance management of the team
  • Supporting key local and national projects and objectives as required
  • Maintaining CAS status and advising a small, discreet portfolio of HNW clients
  • Creating and delivering a comprehensive business plan for the team, aligned to Regional/National objectives and our Financial Planning Strategic ambition
  • Developing and performing 'take to market' strategies to drive new business opportunities and growth
  • Maximising opportunities across all revenue lines in abrdn FPAL Ltd
  • Building brand and reputation locally and nationally, with well-developed business networks
  • Meeting target business results, including revenue, costs, growth in assets, and client fees
  • Providing effective supervisory oversight – identifying, managing, and mitigating key risks in the advice function, with appropriate action and development plans in place
  • Working with Operations and Compliance to ensure appropriate MI and trend analysis for effective oversight and management control
  • Supporting and leading local and national projects and business development work, and deputising for the Head of Business Unit as required
  • Being commercially adept with a business development track record and having a good understanding of Financial Planning, technical knowledge of pensions, investment, estate planning, and protection
  • Having knowledge of the regulatory framework impacting a retail advisory business and an understanding of the advisory sector with established relationships
  • Being experienced in problem-solving and analytical skills, including financial analysis
